Located in the Douro River valley, in a transitional region right on the border between the Douro demarcated region and the Vinho Verde region, Quinta da Castanheira has always been known for being a property with rich granitic soil. The 1000Curvas project thus takes advantage of the best of these two worlds: the granitic soil typical of the Verde region and the influence of the Douro River right there, 2km away.

The 1000Curvas wine was conceived by Armando Soares, in partnership with his son Rodrigo Soares and winemaker Pedro Mota.
The idea for the project came during a revitalization of Quinta da Castanheira, a property located in the municipality of Baião, Northern Portugal.
